WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO HUMANITY? WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR COUNTRY? JUNE 2020

Jun 24, 2020

June 2020

When the above picture popped into my Facebook feed I immediately stopped the scroll. I truly identified. I am heart-sick over what HAS happened and what IS happening in our society.

Weeks ago I was frustrated with the behavior and responses of the masses regarding the Covid-19 situation...but that's a different story for another day.

And now? What has happened to humanity? How did we get to this point?

Folks, we are being sold lies...at the detriment of blacks, at the detriment of whites, at the detriment of all 'colors' in our society.

I am barraged by the #blacklivesmatter and #blackouttuesday posts. The endless emails by companies proclaiming that they are now setting aside positions to hire people of color (no mention of qualifications).

(No matter what I write, I'll lose readers today...because everything is politics these days.)

Let me make it very clear...I think what happened is a tragedy. No person unarmed should be killed by an officer.

I also think it's horrible that after that happened, cities were being burnt to the ground and many small businesses looted and destroyed... and innocent bystanders getting attacked in the streets.

But why is there a faction of society fighting, screaming, and demanding support and justice for a segment that is up to no good? Let's say there was an individual who had spent multiple stints in prisons, was confirmed to have had fentanyl, cannabinoids, and meth in their system, and trying to pass a counterfeit bill upon arrest. Would mainstream try to turn them into a hero? It appears that yes, yes they would.

I'm not playing a part in that. It's smoke and mirrors. And that is why my company, SkinTech, is not participating in the movement and postings like so many other companies.

It's not my place to tell you how to think about what's going on right now. And you definitely don't need another person virtue signaling just because it's the "trendy" thing to do this week.

Most of the people engaging in that right now (including those high profile folks posing in front of looted buildings so they can score some social clout and FB/Instagram likes) are going to move onto the newest 'issue du jour' in a couple of weeks anyway.

You know it's the truth. We've all seen this movie before, unfortunately.

Let me make it clear, I feel devastated for the family. Justice should be served. I'm not insinuating, by any means, that anyone should die at the hands of another, but to elevate someone to hero and martyr status 'because of color' is disturbing.

The responsible party has been arrested and deserves to pay for the crime.

Do some police officers do the wrong thing, YES. Do some child care workers do the wrong things, YES. Do some doctors do the wrong thing, YES. Did you know that an estimated quarter of a million people die at the hands of doctors accidentally because of mistakes? Do we protest doctors? Do we assume ALL doctors make bad judgments and are horrible human beings because of the actions of some of them? There are bad people in every profession.

There is NO EXCUSE to accept the notion that black people are being disproportionately hunted down by police because of the color of their skin. It’s CRIMINALS that are being hunted down. It has been reported that just 6% of the population accounts for 44% of the murders in this country (2018 figures). It's also been reported that there is a 25% greater chance of a violent white criminal dying at the hands of a police officer than a violent black criminal. The best way to avoid not having a confrontation with a police officer?

Give them no reason to confront you.

Susan Lapin writes ... "I cannot imagine any of my Black friends wanting me to excuse violent and immoral behavior by their children any more than I would want them to excuse such behavior in my children. If there are two looters, one white and one black, it would be the epitome of racism to say that because of the color of his skin, one looter’s behavior is acceptable while the other one’s behavior is criminal. There is absolutely no excuse for viciously attacking innocent people or their property. Only very confused individuals think that tolerating, allowing, and condoning thuggish behavior will lead to greater amity between human beings."

My sister-in-law shared a post today that touched my heart…

“Officer Shay Mikalonis shot in the back of the head point blank while working the riots in Las Vegas. Havent seen his face once today on social media or the news, does his life not matter? Hanging onto life support at 29💙🙏🙏🙏🙏 for the record every life matters.”

An overwhelming majority of police officers risk their lives to saves ours. Officer Mikalonis risked his. There are many on the frontlines working for our safety that are harmed…but yet go unnoticed.

I saw this on another post and I really like it…( I wish I could track down where it originated in order to give credit but I haven’t been able to)

This is America…
We have a virus…but over 99% of those who contract it will survive.
We have some racists…but 99.95% of the people you meet are color blind and don’t have a racial bone in their body.
We have some bad cops…but 99.995% of the law enforcement personnel you encounter would risk their lives to save yours.
If you choose to see evil, then evil is all you’ll see.
As for me…I choose to see the good in people…my heart is full…
I’ve got nothing but love for all of you…

I hope you're staying safe and ignoring the media as much as possible.

I'll leave you with that...

Take care of yourself, your family, your loved ones, and your community.

For the love of our country,
